Botched landing
Let me set it up, wind 5 knots variable with gusts, wind direction generally 050 with lots of aircraft doing touch and goes, all using runway 18 for some reason. Advance the video to about 5:30 mark. I flared a little high on the first touchdown attempt, got the height back with a burst of power and set up for a second touchdown attempt when things went south. I think what happened was that just before touchdown at close to stall speed a quartering tailwind gust dropped my airspeed below stall and the right wind stalled, causing the Cub to quickly change direction from runway heading and, all of a sudden, I was heading off the runway at maybe a twenty degree offset from runway heading. What do you think happened? So afterwards, I decided to take a break and look for alligators in Lake Trafford.
