This is the warmup sound check I went through before the Both Eyes Open opera premiere at the Flea Theater in NYC. It demonstrates what sounds and musical gestures I am adding to the chamber group of piano, violin and clarinet. It includes both melodic gestures and manipulated samples of sounds (created by the composer and performer) and is an example of what should be possible when musicians also handle the sound design resources from the stage with sophisticated electronic musical instruments. -Joel Davel on the Marimba Lumina
