It starts from a sentence and applies production rules in reverse to reach the start symbol. Shift-reduce parsing uses two unique steps: shift-step and reduce-step. Shift-step advances the input pointer to the next input symbol, which is pushed onto the stack. Reduce-step replaces a complete grammar rule with a non-terminal symbol when the top of the stack contains a handle. LR parser, also known as LR(k) parsers, is a non-recursive, shift-reduce, bottom-up parser that uses a wide class of context-free grammar, making it the most efficient syntax analysis technique.
