In this video Im going to show you an introductory and effective lower body workout for all the major leg muscles. All the equipment shown here was included with my unit upon purchase, minus the 100 lb rod upgrades which I had to purchase separate. Starting with a compound movement, the Squat. For this movement, stand on the platform with both feet facing forward turned neither in nor out. Place the bar under your neck bones so the bar does not bruise your bone area and place it on the trapezius muscle. Stand straight up, then squat with a medium tempo as described in the video. Make sure to keep your back straight and chin tucked throughout the movement. Next, we're going to isolate the quad muscles with the leg extension attachment. Hold your butt down on the seat pad making sure your glutes are always contacting the seat. Perform the extensions with a a medium tempo as shown. Keep the spine straight and chin straight also. For the hamstrings and glutes, we're going to do cable kickbacks with the handle/foot attachment. Your support leg should be on the floor in front of the platform while you support yourself with your hands on the seat backing. This is a great hamstring and glute workout especially for an at home machine. Keep your chin and spine aligned throughout the exercise, using a medium tempo as shown. Finally, the calves. Real simple, we're going to place the ball of one foot on the platform and balance the other foot in the air. We're going to perform a full range of motion single leg calf raise using the edge of the platform. Use your hand on the opposite side to balance yourself on the machine, being careful not to take weight off of the working calf muscle. I also demonstrate a variation using a 10 lb weight to add more levels of resistance to your exercise progression. There it is! a full lower body workout utilizing only the Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Workout Machine!
