This is an early Boynton shaper made in the 1870s before Edwin Boynton and Osgood Plummer joined to form Boynton and Plummer in 1880. It is a traversing head shaper, meaning the head passes over the work as it cuts instead of the work passing beneath it. It has three speeds, and this is medium.
