Braces Explained: Closing Loops INSTAGRAM: @drgregortho In this video I will be reviewing the question of “what are closing loops? and what are they used for?” Just like I’ve reviewed in previous videos, there are a number of different ways to close space, including power chains & coil springs (see other videos). Today we are going to be reviewing a different way to close space using closing loops. There are many different designs for closing loops but the principles are similar. Closing loops are bends placed into the main wire that, when activated, create a spring that wants to return to its original shape. In wanting to return to its original space, the teeth will want to move closer together and close a gap that was created by extractions or by having excessive spacing.
