BRASS & MAPLE | DISPLAY TRAY

A client came to us with a cut round from a beloved backyard maple tree. The big beautiful tree thrived in their backyard for decades. Unfortunately, the tree became diseased and had to be cut down. The tree was too full of memories to let it all go to firewood, so they saved a few rounds from a large upper branch and let them dry. They gave me one of the rounds to turn it into a beautiful tray for them. This was a project full of firsts for me. Figuring out how to plane a single side of something of this size, which gauge brass wire to use for threading and how to secure it.
