Women are at the forefront of the battle for human rights. Not only for basic bread, but for those "little extras" like an education, the right to vote, a decent place to live and work, equal pay, and healthcare. The photos, courtesy of the U.S. Library of Congress, powerfully illustrate the 1911 poem, "Bread & Roses", by James Oppenhiem. The poem was later set to music in 1976 by Mimi Farina (Baez) and is being sung by the duet RnA.
