Here we see two approaches to initial structural pruning, height reduction, and selective branch removal to allow for increased sun penetration through the canopy. Always be sure to make your cut at an angle so that water does not pool on the exposed wood which could cause rot. Conducted at HUPC member’s farm, Mike Nakada, in February 2018.
