BREATHER (for Michael Phelps) In early 2009 at a private party at the University of South Carolina, just months after Phelps won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, a British tabloid published a photograph of the Olympic swimmer using a bong at a party, leading to a temporary suspension, loss of a major sponsor, and intense public scrutiny. That photo could not have come out like that unless somebody in his circle of trust was slimy enough to cash in on it. I thought then as I do now that that was effed up. So I wrote this song about it.
