If low back pain has been hanging around longer than you’d like, your breathing strategy might be part of the story. Not just “take a deep breath,” but learning how to use your diaphragm and core together so your spine feels supported during real-life movement.
In the earlier videos in this series, we built the foundation: diaphragmatic breathing, then breathing while your body is under load, and then adding coordinated arm and leg movement. This week, the focus shifts to a powerful (and often overlooked) piece of spine stability: the lateral chain—the side-body system that helps you resist unwanted motion and transfer force smoothly.
Why does that matter? Because most of life and sport isn’t straight-line. Think golf, pickleball, tennis, throwing, or even daily tasks like reaching for a seatbelt or carrying groceries. These activities rely on rotation and what’s often called an “same-side” pattern—your body has to create stability while motion happens elsewhere.
