The Modern War Institute (MWI) at West Point hosted Brig. Gen. Pat Work as he addressed the principles of mission command. With the Army’s transition from counterinsurgency to large-scale combat operations, and as recent events in Ukraine lay bare, decentralized execution of orders will be vitally important to modern battle and to success in complex operating environments.
