BS 7910 ('Guide to methods for assessing the acceptability of flaws in metallic structures') was first published as a BSI document in 1980. The next revision of BS 7910, which will include corrections and clarifications, re-structuring of the document and new technical content, is scheduled for late 2019. A research project is also underway at TWI to re-validate various aspects of the fracture assessment procedures.
