In 2006, Ken Combs answered a newspaper ad for a jobsite lumper that read: “No Experience Needed.” He started the next day. Fifteen years later, Ken optionally works 1–5 hours per week inside his own $20M/yr design-build firm, CQC Home, because he intentionally built a company that runs on systems, not him. Once CQC Home became fully management-run, Ken began getting constant questions from other contractors trying to understand how the business was structured, how production ran without the owner, and how margins were protected at scale. He saw firsthand how many companies had the talent and opportunity to achieve far greater results, but were missing the systems, structure, and leadership model to get there. To replicate his success for others, Ken formed Builders Breakthrough Advisors (BBA). BBA is a team of six functional experts, each specializing in one core department of a contracting business.
