In this series I am going to use a VFD, Variable Frequency Drive, to drive the carriage on the band saw sawmill that I am building. I am using a 110 Volt VFD because it is easily adapted to many applications. In this case I am using it on my new bandsaw with a number 50 chain and sprockets. The electric motor is connected to a right angle gear box with a 10 -1 gear ratio. The motor is a three phase one HP. motor designed to be inverter rated.
