One of the best design features of the house is a large 580 square foot deck (54 square meters) facing south and that will wrap around the swim spa. It is a floating deck - it is not attached to the foundation and does not have any concrete footings. It sits on pads against the foundation wall. In part 2, I install the beam for the portion of the deck that extends to the swim spa; I attach Resisto Joist Guard to the joists; and finally attach the deck boards with the help of my nephew and son. And, I made a mistake: I installed a wonky joist and had to remove boards to plane it down.
