Buyer Beware
Friend, and I stumbled on 8.6 Blackout brass for sale. . Sounded to good to be true. Made from Lake City 308 brass without turning the necks? Got my attention.I decided to contact the seller to see if they would share how they were able to make it, and not have to turn the necks. I also have a bag of 500 pieces I picked up at a local gun show right before my buddy got these, and needless to say the necks on the ones from the show need to be turned to work. No big deal the seller at the show said they may need a bit of work. However the price was right. So I let the seller know that I was impressed (Before I actually Tried my new loaded rounds), and based off the gauge stated that they were perfect. I inquired about the process as it would be nice to fix mine from the show easier then turning the necks.... They didn't want to share their process, and said they can say how to fix someone else's mistakes, and wouldn't go into detail other then their cases aren't Neck turned just Reamed. . Regardless my buddy ordered some. I checked out a few pieces, and dropped them in a case gauge seemed good to go. Decided Loaded them up drove out to the range they wouldn't chamber... . Let my buddy know they didn't work he contacted the seller, and the seller forwarded my email communications with them to him saying I Said they were perfect, and saying if we try to send them someone else's brass they will know..... First of all 3 of 5 bags are unopened... Secondly Turning the necks on the ones from the show will take me little to no time/effort. Not cool. . I communicate with the seller to see if there's something I'm missing. He suggests I use a small base sizing die, and it should fix it, but the cases aren't having an issue in the base as shown by my gauge. The issues are with the necks. He states that they had issues, and have since switched their process to roll sizing. Great but that's still not the issue. . I explain that the brass is not all Lake City brass, but is mixed. That the primer pocket crimps aren't all swaged, and that the neck wall thickness isn't all correct. Yes some of it is, but near the shoulder its not, and when loaded they won't chamber. . As of now we have 1000 pieces of brass that we paid more for then buying brand new Hornady Brass which is super easy to convert.... . Will post an update when resolved, but for now my advice is to be caution buying anything for a non Sammi Spec cartridge from anyone, but a reputable company.
