Two of Tasmania's Forest Defenders were held in remand after logging in a giant Weld Valley clearfell was halted for a day. The activists were arrested after being suspended 30 metres atop two cable loggers that are carrying out logging in a very large steep area of forest.
The protest was held to highlight the negative impacts of the pulp mill on Tasmania's southern forests. If this mill is allowed to continue, brutal logging scars will spoil Tasmania's landscape, contribute to climate change, habitat loss and damage to water catchments.
