Find a partner to practice hearing intervals. One partner sings or plays a short melody. The second partner sings the melody back on solfeggio. This exercise can be as easy or difficult as you like. Start with only steps in the melody and only using DO RE MI. One you are able to sing back the melody, try writing it down. You can write the rhythm alone, the solfeggio alone, or write in conventional notation. To make it more challenging, sing longer phrases, try it in minor, add dotted rhythms, add more notes of the scales, allow chromatic pitches. There are many ways to vary this exercise.
