Canada Goose Collaring
In the summer geese are molting and can't fly. In June the Arizona Game and Fish department conducted a Canada goose capture and banding at local lakes around the Pinetop and Showlow areas. Department staff and volunteers gathered together to herd more than three hundred geese. The captured geese were released unharmed after being marked with serially-numbered metal bands and black neck collars. Captures are aimed at evaluating the growth and harvest of the resident urban Canada goose population, in addition to evaluating migration patterns. #Arizona #wildlife #geese #wildlifemanagement Visit Our Web Site: https://www.azgfd.gov/ Support Wildlife Conservation: https://www.azwildlifehero.com/ Sign Up for our Newsletter: https://list.robly.com/subscribe?a=7fca2776b89bbf3c078c9d34acd3bc57 Subscribe to the Arizona Wildlife Views Magazine: https://store.azgfd.com/product/subscribe-to-arizona-wildlife-views/ Follow Arizona Game and Fish: https://www.facebook.com/azgfd https://www.instagram.com/azgfd/ https://twitter.com/azgfd/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/arizona-game-and-fish-department/ Join Our Communities: https://www.facebook.com/groups/azoutdoorsthevalley/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/lavidaoutdoorsarizona https://www.facebook.com/groups/fishaz https://www.facebook.com/groups/azoutdoorsrimcountry https://www.facebook.com/groups/arizonashootingsports https://www.facebook.com/groups/arizonaoutdoorshighcountry https://www.facebook.com/groups/azoutdoorstucsonsoutheast
