Our strain gauge technology is used for a wide range of applications and we support the diverse measurement needs of each industry. MinebeaMitsumi developed a solution to improve the accuracy of molded parts using our expertise in strain gauge technology and injection molding processes. We use in-house injection molding equipment to produce molded components for use in our cooling fans, semiconductors and LED backlight products. In order to minimize costs and scrapped parts, we integrate load cells onto the ejector pin of the mold to measure cavity pressure. We can then optimize the cavity pressure to repeatedly produce ideal molded parts. * Mold cavity pressure can be measured, controlled and recorded easily with minimal cost * To manage quality of molded products, we analyze the pressure waveform when the forming die is filled with resin * Decrease time needed to optimize molding conditions and transfer to mass production *Ensure mass production quality using predetermined pressure settings from measurement tests We developed a highly sensitive and precise mold cavity measurement system for our own injection molding equipment. This has significantly improved production efficiency while reducing material waste and labor costs. Additional opportunities for process improvement include auto-sorting of parts, simple production data transfer, part uniformity and more. We design and manufacturer precision strain gauge sensors in-house and apply 4 strain gauges in order to increase sensitivity and accuracy. Internal testing has shown an improved lifespan due to smaller deformation over conventional methods that utilize a single strain gauge. This indirect sensing method produces stable data as it is less affected by temperature fluctuations. The conventional method for defect sorting includes visual inspection, image analysis, or weight and dimension measurements. These methods are typically manual or time-consuming leading to added costs. Precise pressure measurement within the mold cavity can detect defects immediately and can also be used to optimize the molding process to reduce defective parts. Data can be logged and stored contributing towards comprehensive quality control records. We have expert design engineers that can assist with custom integration for our customers. Learn more today!
