CDM Systems - Company Introduction
CDM Systems started more than 40 years ago under the premise that building the highest quality, longest-lasting conveyors for heavy-duty industrial applications started with the chain. Philosophy We strive to provide superior material handling products in an economical and timely manner that exceed our customers expectations in durability dependability and longevity. CDM special alloy formulation, a balance of strength, hardness, and ductility along with a proven exceptional tensile, shear, bearing surface and wear resistance. This has resulted in CDM Chains being viewed as an industry standard. CDM drop-forged chains are a 20MnCr5 alloy which is case hardened to 60HRc with a nominal depth of 0.030”. Core hardness of 300-400BHN. Every link is Magnafluxed to ensure quality and links are manufactured under ISO guidelines. This combination of surface hardness and a ductile core is the benchmark for performance. Chain Selection & Evaluation When considering the use of either a drag or En-Masse conveyor is it EXTREMELY important to balance the internal components to the application and product being handled. Durability (Wear Resistance, etc) Reliability (Design, Consistency & Quality) Ultimate Strength (Caution; evaluation a chain based solely on its ultimate strength can be disastrous if the following are not addressed) Impact Resistance (Proven Core & Case Hardness) Fatigue (Wear Related to Cycling, Working Loads, & Normal Operation) Wear Resistance (Case Hardness and Depth) Design & Workmanship (Consistency, Quality Controls) Bearing Surfaces & Finish (Precision Machined, Within Tolerance) Manufacturing Techniques (Forged, Cast, Stamped) Flight Attachment Method (Welded (Procedures) or Bolted) Chain Weight & Pitch (Smaller & Light = Smoother Operation) Manufacturing Plant No. 1 Machining Bay Chain Assembly Reduces field installation costs Manufacturing Plant No. 2 CNC Plasma and Flame Cutting 10x20 table Manufacturing Plant No. 2 Cutting and Welding Bay Manufacturing Plant No. 2 Fabrication Bay Components ready for sand blasting Sand Blasting & Paint Booth for your custom requirements Typical End Flap Typical Twin Terminal Station Inspection Door with safety screen Terminal Station with zero speed switches Advantages of En-Masse Conveying En-Masse are the Most Efficient Form of Material Handling. In many applications En-Masse can handle 90% of its cross-sectional area, resulting in a smaller piece of equipment to handle the same or greater capacities. Very efficient HP consumption, second only to belt conveyors. En-Masse can handle product in various arrangements. Horizontal, inclined, vertical, L-path, Z-path, and looping (ideal for retrofits, new applications & confined areas) Can handle extremely high capacities over relatively great distances. En-Masse can handle nearly all products. Can handle everything from Ash to Zinc. Temperatures up to 1000 deg. F. En-Masse are inherently safe. Totally enclosed. Dust, weather and gas tight. Minimal product degradation (uses product to convey). Only two lubrication points (outbound of conveyor).
