Quick tutorial, for beginners, on four distinct ways to "bloom" a note on cello. But the I mean transitioning smoothly from, say, pianissimo to forte. I show how to do this in four ways. These kinds of exercises are a good way to build dynamic range.
Essential vocabulary:
sul ponticello = sul pont. = sul p. = at the bridge
sul tasto = sul t. = at the fingerboard
Please bear in mind that some of the auto-adjusting features of my recording equipment and the youtube compression tend to suppress the dynamic effects. But here we go anyway...
I left out one important thing :( If you want to bloom from, say, pp to ff, then hold back at the beginning to give yourself more dynamic headroom as you go to ff. That may or may not be obvious.
