The Two Magicians is classed as Childe Ballad 44. This song is a twist on the old tale of the goddess Ceridwen and her servant, Gwion. Unwittingly, Gwion consumed the goddess's gift of wisdom. Fearing Ceridwen would kill him, Gwion ran away. To escape, Gwion uses his newfound wisdom to undergo a series of transformations. And eventually, the chase ends.
