Centauri Carbon Toolhead Light CNC Prototype
This video isn’t about learning desktop CNC step-by-step — it’s about what CNC unlocks when you already live in the 3D-printing world. After building an under-toolhead LED mod for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon, viewers started asking if I planned to make the board available. At the same time, I had a Makera Carvera Air desktop CNC sitting on my bench. Rather than jumping straight to a production PCB, I used the CNC to design and fabricate a real, functional mezzanine PCB prototype — one that helped inform how a future, more general hobbyist kit should be designed. This video walks through: - Why subtractive CNC complements 3D printing - How CNC fits into a maker workflow for real product development - Why FR-4 and copper matter when prototyping electronics - The design motivations behind the Centauri Carbon toolhead LED mezzanine board - How desktop CNC can accelerate iteration before sending designs out for fabrication This is not a beginner CNC tutorial. The goal here is to show how CNC can extend your capabilities, not replace 3D printing — and why it’s a powerful addition to a maker’s toolbox.
