Cervical Quick Test Purpose of Test: Assess joint play into downglide at the cervical zygapophyseal joints. Step 1: 1:01 With the patient lying supine, and the table high enough so that the patient’s head is at your stomach, hold the patient’s head in slight cervical flexion and palpate to find the C2 spinous process. Step 2: 1:20 Wrap the mobilizing hand around the curvature of the neck, placing the proximal phalanx of your index finger against the C2 LAMINA. The stabilizing hand will be on the opposite side in the same position. Step 3: 1:37 Apply a caudal/medial force to the lamina with your mobilizing hand assessing joint play and end feel. Stabilize with the opposite hand and maintain slight cervical flexion. If stabilization is performed correctly, only a small amount of motion will be produced. Visualize the patient’s head rotating on an axis at the point of their nose. Step 4: 2:08 Compare to the opposite side. Move down the cervical spine and repeat assessment at each level.
