Change Begins Within

I was inspired to write this song from a post I made on Facebook 3 years ago. "I've been thinking about all the posting of prayers here on Facebook particularly those concerning the state of our nation, political powers, the state of world affairs. Quite honestly these prayers are essentially ineffectual. Why? Because God set the Universe in motion and gave people free will. Asking God to intervene in society, politics etc., is not the solution to change things. If you truly want change, it really has to start with you. So many religious folk and Christians hate the situation, hate the "sin, not the sinner," but in reality hate the sinner and hate themselves deep down. There is a saying that goes, "Change yourself, not change others." That is you can't change others, by trying to change them by external means only entrenches them more severely than they already are. No matter your moral standards, your political view or your station in life, the more you hate the more they hate you. It is a matter of LOVE. I'm not talking the poofy airy fairy kind of love. I'm talking DIVINE LOVE. The kind of love that effectually brings change, firstly with you and then others. Contrary to what religion has indoctrinated, God has ALWAYS LOVED His creation. EVERY SINGLE one of you and every individual in the world, (Even the ones that hate you, disagree with you, those who differ with you religiously, morally, politically etc). Each of us individually have a journey of life we need to complete and it differs greatly from one to another. This is why we are commanded to not judge others. DIVINE LOVE which comes from the I AM THAT I AM which desires to abide in you that is His dwelling place, His habitation IN you. As many of you have experienced in life, I at one point in my life was incapable of loving anyone else as well especially myself. I was filled with RAGE and HATE. When God revealed this to me (because quite frankly, I was not capable of not recognizing it myself). I asked Him to fill me with His love not knowing what that really and entirely was at that moment. I recognized I was not capable of doing that on my own. As many of you know I used to rant and rave about the political things and people associated with that going on only seeing the situation getting worse. So much so that I was getting physically sick and it became too much for me to handle. The scripture, "Love your brother as yourself" being the most important teaching that Jesus made and "love your enemies..." (of which was hard for me at the time) began to reveal to me what I needed to do and must do. As I began to recognize this DIVINE LOVE inhabitation in me needs to be projected outwards to others I realized that this is the only way my prayer life can truly be effectual, is to pray for others to come into an experience of DIVINE LOVE of their own. I could not in any way do this under my own power and force it on others. what remains is that I just have to love everyone. This is the ONLY WAY you can effect change. If we all could come into this DIVINE LOVE dwelling in us, the world in which we live in can be one that benefits all of us. However the caveat is to let it effect you first.."
