For decades I played three or four nights each week, but with a family to support I also taught school in a rural elementary school. One of my colleagues attended many of our shows and even meant her husband at one of them. April was a sweetheart and the best teacher I ever knew. One day at school ,while on cafeteria duty, she slipped on a wet spot and fell. Her injury was very severe and the next couple of years it was doctor after doctor, surgery after surgery, and many pain killers. One day she took a nap and simply never awoke. Her husband was crushed and two weeks later was beaten to death in a fight. He was a very peaceful person and maybe this was intentional. I composed this song about April and Terry. If we don't remember those we have lost : They are truly gone.
