CHAOS Spring Webinar 2025
May 6, 2025 - The 2025 CHAOS (Coastal Hazards of Superior) Spring Webinar featured a short networking session, updates from four speakers on Lake Superior coastal resilience projects, and breakout discussions. Deanna Geelhoed, Climate Resilience Planner for the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission, discussed the creation of the Northland Climate Resilience Collaborative and the development of a Regional Resilience Plan for Minnesota's North Shore. Tori Field, Sustained Engagement Specialist for GLISA at the University of Michigan, shared about the Floodwise Communities program that helps communities assess individual stormwater components for vulnerabilities to climate impacts. She discussed a specific example of this work with Bayfield County, WI. Sara Hudson, Recreation Coordinator for Bayfield County Forestry and Parks and former Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Ashland, discussed climate impacts and resilience efforts in Ashland, WI. Eric Peterson, Forest Administrator for Iron County Forestry and Parks, discussed the Saxon Harbor Lake Superior Shoreline Stabilization project, with a focus on the efforts being undertaken to protect Harbor Drive in Saxon, WI.
