In this video, we will determine the electric field at point P, which is located a distance "a" to the left of a thin rod with a positive charge Q, uniform charge density λ, and length L. We will use Coulomb's law and an integral to solve for the electric field. The electric field at point P will be to the left or in the negative "i" direction. We will also discuss what happens to the electric field when the distance to point P is much larger than the length of the rod.
