Child Abduction Response Team - "When Every Second Counts"
What happens when a child goes missing? The response has to be fast, coordinated, and precise. That’s where CART — the Child Abduction Response Team — comes in. Recently, 30 agencies from across the north central Colorado region came together for a full-scale training exercise, simulating the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl. From door-to-door canvassing and K-9 searches to digital forensics and surveillance footage, every detail mattered. The goal? National certification — and more importantly, readiness. This training wasn’t just about checking boxes. It was about building relationships, sharpening skills, and ensuring that when the unthinkable happens, we’re ready to bring kids home safely. Huge thanks to all the agencies, officers, and partners who made this possible: Colorado's 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Arvada Police Department, Colorado Aurora Police Department Boulder County Sheriff's Office Boulder DA's Office, 20th Judicial District - DA Michael Dougherty Boulder Police Department Broomfield Police Department Colorado Bureau of Investigation Commerce City Police Department University of Colorado Anschutz Police Department Denver Police Department Denver District Attorney's Office Edgewater Police Department Empire Police Department Town of Erie Police Department FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Federal Protective Service Jefferson County Sheriff's Office First Judicial DA's Office of Colorado Town of Lakeside Police Department Lakewood Police Department Longmont Public Safety Northglenn Police Department Ralston House ThorntonPD Westminster PD Wheat Ridge Police Department Golden Police Department
