The butter and brown sugar tuns into a toffee taste while making the saltine crackers extra crispy. You will want to make this again! Be cautious, the butter/sugar mixture is extremely hot, do not touch or taste that hot mixture. You can get seriously burned. Save any crumbs, they go great over ice cream. The sheet pan should be around 38 centimeters by 25 centimeters, but mine was larger and worked. Ingredients: Saltine Crackers... 35 to 45 individual crackers 227 grams butter (2 sticks) 200 grams brown sugar (1 cup packed) 340 grams semi-sweet chocolate (12 ounces or 11 ounces) 1 cup chopped pecans (or whatever nuts you prefer) Preheat oven to 350F Be sure to use aluminum foil, then grease the foil well. Lay out your saltines in a single layer. Melt your butter in a pot, then add your brown sugar. Boil over medium to medium low heat for around 4 minutes to make sure all the sugar melts. Immediately pour this over the saltines and spread it out the best that you can before it hardens. Bake in your 350 degree oven for 8 or 9 or 10 minutes. You want to see it bubbling all over in the oven before removing. Immediately spread the chocolate over the top and allow to sit for a minute to warm the chocolate and spread over the baked crackers. Top with the nuts of your choice. You could also add red and green edible glitter or sprinkles. Refrigerate this for at least one hour to cool, this makes the candy all come together into one huge piece. Then cut up into pieces. Store in an air tight container.
