Somerset County Council are seeking to make cuts to their budget for Children's Centres by closing down most of them. They are hoping to current, professionally staffed centres with volunteer run sessions in libraries and similar community buildings. The Balsam Centre in Wincanton is one of the centres under threat. Under one roof there are midwives, health visitors and other early years professionals so that parents can be in contact with a range of people who are able to support and advise through the sometimes difficult early years. Parents who use the centre can also avail themselves of all of the various opportunities that the centre presents for them to become involved in a wide range of activities. Parent Chris Hill feels so strongly about the situation that he asked Transition Vision to make this video.
