In this Cigarette, I speak on the mask. not the one made of plastic, but the one we wear every day. Halloween was never my thing. I always thought it was cheap. A ritual for people to hide behind something fake. But tonight, I understood it. Because when I put on the Guy Fawkes mask, I felt free. Free from my own standards. Free from the identity I keep building and destroying. Free from the constant self I’ve been dragging through time. Halloween isn’t about fear. It’s about release. A quiet ego death; a reminder that sometimes you need to step away from who you are to see what’s underneath. We wear masks every day. In public, in conversation, even in silence.
