While the basic parry four and six have their place and are effective, their restrictive parallel movements do leave opening for incoming attacks. Enter the circle parry! Using a tight and well-placed circle parry, a fencer can now shut down incoming attacks from multiple lines and setup an effective and prompt direct reposte, and those vulnerable openings rapidly begin to vanish.
This lesson will focus on the execution of the circular parry in position six, the appropriate position of the hand, depth of the circle, and how to deliver a prompt reposte.
