The Al Rayak Armed Forces (ARAF) have lost ground rapidly to the onslaught and now the Al Tabqah regional battalion has found itself painted into a corner in its own hometown after a humiliating defeat in the neighbouring town of Qiytah.
Given the strength of the enemy, ARAF has determined its best hope lies in a strong defense-in-depth of Al Tabqah and its suburbs. A mortar team with drone spotting is supporting.
