A polynomial is an algebraic expression consisting of variables, constants, and non-negative integer powers of variables combined using addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The general form of a polynomial is ( a_n x^n + a_{n-1} x^{n-1} + \dots + a_0 ), where the highest power ( n ) is called the degree of the polynomial. Polynomials can be classified into different types based on the number of terms and their degree. Based on terms, they are called monomial (one term), binomial (two terms), and trinomial (three terms). Based on degree, they are classified as constant (degree 0), linear (degree 1), quadratic (degree 2), cubic (degree 3), and so on. Polynomials do not include negative powers of variables or variables in denominators and are widely used in solving mathematical and real-life problems.
