The modern coal power plant which uses a fluidized bed design is explained in detail. The components and concepts include: fuel upgrading, gas reburning, sorbent injection, electrostatic precipitators, pre-scrubbers for heavy metals, scrubber. These eliminate the causes of acid rain and greatly reduce fly ash. pH of the rain across the US today is shown.
