I decided to add some leaves to my box turtle's enclosure. It seemed a little empty and Im sure she would love to be able to burrow into some leaves. It's fall, so theres plenty of leaves on the ground to collect. I'll show how I prepare them to be added to the enclosure.
I ended up using 2 flat baking sheets and one deep pan to "cook" the leaves. The ones on the baking sheets dried faster, but I was able to heat up more at once in the pan.
Disinfecting the leaves BEFORE adding them to any reptile or amphibian enclosure it VERY important. Theres a risk of adding parasites, bacteria, and other bad things to an enclosure if outdoor items are not disinfected before being added!!
