This video covers the basics of clock circuits and is the second in a series of videos I'll be doing based on a past series of posts I put out on the Aussie Arcade forum. It's not the end all / be all of clock circuits - instead, this video series is to help get you up to speed on basic circuit blocks in computer circuits and what their functions are. Clock circuits are a required element in any computer - whether it's an embedded computer, in an arcade game, or in your vintage collection. They ensure that the CPU and every other device in the system can talk and listen at the right times to make it all work together. In this video I'll talk about why clock circuits are important, what the crystals and oscillators look like, some common types of clock circuits, and troubleshooting them. I want to give another quick shout out to the folks on the Aussie Arcade forum! I met a few on business travels over to Melbourne in the past and met a few who came to Frisco, TX, for the Texas Pinball Festival :) The posts I'm basing this series on can be found here: https://www.aussiearcade.com/topic/92531-how-game-board-components-work/
