The opportunities to be able to do this are few and far between. The conditions have to be just right where you need a low layer of clouds or fog to be able get up above them and still fly legally.
Below 1000 feet AGL the rules say we must simply stay clear of clouds to fly legally. VFR rules set out visibly and visual reference to the ground requirements. For this flight the stars lined up and as the morning fog burned off the sky opened up to a beautiful wonderland. When doing this I would recommend flying with a radio for just a added level of awareness of any air traffic that may be around. Hope you enjoy!!
