This snowfield can be avoided by climbing the west ridge of Spalding Peak. It would probably make much more sense if going in the opposite direction to traverse on the ridge rather than the snow bridge. 8:58 Gilkey Tower east ridge and summit block 10:44 Descending a couloir to the west of Gilkey Tower and approaching Blob 13:37 Ice Cream Cone. I avoided downclimbing the upper part of the chimney by traversing around on a ledge.
