The above video shows you the usage of COMP, COMP-1, COMP-2, COMP-3, COMP-4 and COMP-5 with signed numeric data items; the example also shows how to calculate the length of each of the PIC clauses, please note that we don’t have any PIC clauses for COMP-1 and COMP-2 data items. Tip: Computational data items are usually used with input data wherein data can be compressed or in other words they need to occupy less space and output data items should be of USAGE DISPLAY as they need to be more readable to the end user although they occupy more space.
