I purchased these used for a member on an e34 forum. The welds apparently weren’t done currently and failed. Luckily, I caught this before it turned into something extremely serious.
When purchasing used, make sure to get thorough photos of the item. Especially if the item is a very important suspension piece, and it’s customized!
