In this presentation we'll present the differential equation associated with buckling of a pinned-pinned column and then solve that equation as a boundary value problem to find the theoretical buckling strength or Euler Buckling Capacity of an elastic column. Next, we apply the same solution process to a fixed-fixed column, and derive the effective length factor that is used to characterize various end restraints for columns.
