But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.' Luke 2:10-11 When the Church of England announced their advent theme for 2020 as "Comfort and Joy", we decided to get on board by writing a song on that theme. With the Covid-19 pandemic as the backdrop, this song traces why the good news of Jesus' birth brings lasting comfort and joy. It climaxes with Jesus' promised return: "every longing then fulfilled, every storm forever stilled!" Comfort and joy indeed!
