Comfortable Lies

My response to the climate skeptics out there. Verse 1 Be a climate denier, wrapped warm in the lie Cocooned in your comfort while the warning signs cry “Doesn’t change anything,” yeah, that’s what you say But the science been screaming — change ain’t optional, mate Geologic time moves slow, thousands on the clock Not decades getting punched by a runaway shock This ain’t background noise, this ain’t some debate This is now versus later — and later’s too late ⸻ Verse 2 Three hundred million years back, algae ruled the scene Vegetation everywhere, death thick and green But death played different — no microbes to chew No lignin eaters, dead trees not know what to do So the bodies stacked up, buried deep in the mud Coal, oil, gas — carbon locked from the flood Pulled from the sky, stored under the ground Nature hit pause, turned air clean and the temperature down ⸻ Chorus (Climate Denier Focus) Hey climate denier — say it’s all the same Say it’s just cycles, say nobody’s to blame Eyes shut tight while the world’s on fire Cool with the smoke if you don’t look higher Climate denier — safe in your shell Planet don’t care what you choose to tell Say “it’s normal,” say “it’s all fine” But the clock don’t pause for a comfortable mind ⸻ Verse 3 Fast-forward to now, whole different game Lignin-eaters everywhere, nothing stays the same Seed to a tree, tree to a beam Beam to a house, house to a memory stream Knock it all down, burn it back to air What? No coal made? No reset there One-way street, no U-turn sign Carbon in the air — every damn time ⸻ Verse 4 Now they say maybe lignin bugs lived back then Maybe chaos buried carbon again and again Tsunamis, volcanoes, asteroids from space Violence on a scale that erased whole races So that’s the plan? Roll dice with the sky? Wait for mass extinction to balance supply? You want firestorms, oceans that climb? Yeah — thought not.
