Coming Home

This year I explored new ways to bring my nebulae artwork to life — faster, sharper, and on a grander scale. My earlier particle rendering techniques, while beautiful, were often heavy and grainy. By shifting to a more lightweight and flexible approach, I was able to scale up the scenes and push the sense of cosmic depth even further. Inspired by the epic landscapes of painters like John Martin and Albert Bierstadt, my goal was to create vast cosmic vistas that capture the scale and wonder of our universe. This piece is a visual journey through several imagined star-forming regions and galactic scenes, accompanied by the beautiful, atmospheric music of Tyler Durham aka Limina. A key part of this evolution was experimenting with a technique called Gaussian Splatting — rendering nebula forms from multiple angles and combining them into rich, detailed scenes, while reducing billions of particles to just a few million.
