This is a 49kWp system (easier planning requirements and simpler forms from the DNO than 50+) on a 50kW SMA Core 1 inverter. It demonstrates why we check every string before signing off the system. This sort of test is much simpler on a system without optimisers. If your system is limiting itself to a safe 1V per optimiser... good luck! On a system with good access, this is perfectly possible to do with just a clamp meter. The camera just speeds things up a bit and involves less scrabbling around under panels to try and fish out cables. A full system commissioning involves me checking under every panel to make sure connectors are tied up off the roof; all the mountings are secure; earthing/bonding/lightning protection/surge protection is connected as needed; all the strings are happy (with IR tests at 1000V); isolators; labelling; cable runs; functional checks of the inverter and that all strings are generating; checking that the generation meter matches the inverter's figures, that the import/export meter is configured correctly and that everything is registered online and sending us data.
