I regularly see new 3d artists creating too many materials when trying to texture their assets (I did exactly the same thing when I started!). This tutorial will talk about why this creates problems, and how to texture using substance painter to reduce the number of materials required and help create more optimised assets. Whilst Blender is being used in this tutorial, the techniques involved are appropriate to any digital content creation software.
